Supplemental Certification


Any student seeking initial elementary, middle, secondary, or all level teacher certification may add the ESL (English as a Second Language) (supplemental certification) by taking the following 12 designated hours and passing the appropriate state examination.

For a minor in ESL add six hours from the following courses


Second Teaching Field


A teaching minor (second field) can be added to the initial certificate and is created with 24 hours in an academic discipline for which certification is approved by TEA with at least 12 of the hours being junior level or above. The student must demonstrate proficiency by passing the state test (TExES) in teaching field.

High School (Secondary) (7-12)
