Examines the process of learning and using a second language focusing on the relationship between language and literacy acquisition of English language learners. Theories and models of second language acquisition (SLA). Emotional, social and intellectual implications of the process of learning a second language while maintaining the first. Analyze and compare first and second language acquisition and apply strategies related to second learning in a cross-cultural setting. Prerequisite(s): EDLI 4345 Field experience: 6 hours
