Course Requirements

The major requires 36 semester hours, of which 24 must be upper-level. *Nine hours are included in the general education core curriculum. Students who plan to teach in public schools must consult the School of Education for specific requirements for certification. Majors must take a comprehensive exam during their final semester.

• ENGL 1301 - Composition and Rhetoric 3 hrs *
• ENGL 1302 - Composition and Reading 3 hrs *
• ENGL 2303 - World Literature 3 hrs *
• ENGL 3304 - Advanced Grammar 3 hrs and
• Twenty one hours of upper-level electives in English
