Nursing, M.S.N.



The Master of Science in Nursing prepares nurses to be able to teach in either nursing education programs or other organizations that need an educator. It also prepares nurses with the ability to manage an educational program. The degree focuses on curriculum development, teaching strategies, evaluation, and adult learning. It also has a second focus that educates the student in the areas of business. The degree requires 36 graduate hours for completion.

Admission Requirements (In addition to those listed for All Graduate Students)


Students must have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a program that has been accredited either by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. All students must have an unencumbered RN license for admission into the Nursing program.

Transfer Credit


Up to 12 hours of approved gradate credit from an accredited college or university may satisfy degree requirements. To attempt transfer from other institutions, a student must submit an official transcript of the courses to be considered, and may also be required to submit a catalog description and course syllabus from the institution where the course was taken. The dean of the school and the vice president of academic affairs must approve transfer credit.
