Professional Writing, Minor

The Professional Writing minor is offered for non-English majors who are majoring in a field that could be writing intensive or in which enhanced communication skills would be strongly preferred. The minor requires 21 credit hours. *Nine hours of general education courses (ENGL 1301 , ENGL 1302 , and ENGL 2301 , or ENGL 2302 , or ENGL 2303 ) are included in the university general education curriculum.

Minor Requirements

* ENGL 1301 - Composition and Rhetoric 3 hrs
* ENGL 1302 - Composition and Reading 3 hrs

*Three hours of the following:

ENGL 2301 - English Literature 3 hrs
ENGL 2302 - American Literature 3 hrs
ENGL 2303 - World Literature 3 hrs

Students must take an additional twelve hours from the following courses:

ENGL 3304 - Advanced Grammar 3 hrs
ENGL 3307 - Creative Writing 3 hrs
ENGL 3320 - Foundations of Technical Communication 3 hrs
ENGL 3331 - Writing for Publication 3 hrs
ENGL 4314 - Professional Editing 3 hrs
ENGL 4319 - Grants and Proposals 3 hrs
