B.A. Worship Studies degree plan

Worship Studies, B.A.



The Bachelor of Arts in Worship Studies degree is an interdisciplinary program that blends the disciplines of music and Christian ministry. Professionals preparing to lead corporate worship will acquire methodologies for engaging diverse musical expressions and will develop a holistic biblical theology of worship theory and praxis.

Unified General Education Core - 42-45 hrs


The Unified General Education Core is required for all bachelor degrees at Wayland.

  8. Students with two years of documented high school foreign language (minimum grade of ‘B’ or 3.0) may enroll in 2000-level courses (or higher where prerequisites allow) in that same language. Any student with significant informal background in a foreign language may contact the School of Languages and Literature for information about placement testing.
  9. Students pursuing the B.A.S. Banking and Finance, B.A.S. Business Administration, B.A.S. Computer Information Systems, B.A.S. Computer Science, B.A.S. Digital Marketing, B.A.S. Environmental Sciences, B.A.S. Mission in Business, B.B.A., B.S., B.S.I.S. Middle School Core Subjects, B.S.I.S. Middle School Math, or B.S.I.S. Middle School Science degrees are required to take .

  11. Students associated primarily with the Plainview campus must take a 4-hour laboratory science course to fulfill the Unified General Education science requirement. Students not associated primarily with the Plainview campus may fulfill the science requirement through a 4-hour laboratory science course or the 3-hour non-lab version.

Bachelor of Arts Degree Specific General Education Course Requirements - 16-17 hrs


The Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) is a minimum 124-credit hour degree. A minimum of 42 credit hours must be upper-level credit (courses numbered 3000 and above). Major and minor fields of study included in the degree also have upper-level requirements. As these may vary depending on the discipline selected, specific requirements are included in the subject field sections of the catalog. Because of the nature of the degree, it includes additional study in the fine arts and in foreign language. In addition to the Unified General Education Core, students must complete the following degree specific general education core requirements for the B.A. degree:

Worship Studies - 69 hrs


Because of the breadth of the program, the major and minor fields of study are combined into two major areas: music and Christian Studies. As the B.A. in Worship Studies degree requires more than 124 credit hours, no elective hours are required.
