Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership
The Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership consists of 39 credit hours of coursework in the areas of leadership and management theory, organizational behavior and theory, organizational law and policy, and research design. The core area will provide 27 credit hours of coursework with an additional 12 credit hours of coursework chosen from the following specializations: Health Care Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Resources, or Organizational Leadership.
Graduates will be able to perform research into complex problems in the fields of leadership, management, organizational behavior and theory, along with specialized education in human resource management or health care administration that will lead to new theory and tactics for practitioners in whichever specialization the student selects. Graduates will also learn about current issues in leadership so they can achieve and maintain expertise in their selected fields, as well as be able to evaluate the quality and applicability of published research in their respective areas of study.

In addition to the traditional fields of economic endeavor, the Wayland Baptist University School of Business also offers undergraduate and graduate degrees with a specialization in Health Care Administration. Here students are preparing to become professionals, managing a variety of Health Care Administration organizations including clinic facilities, stand-alone hospitals, hospital districts, hospital authorities, local and federal hospitals and both non-profit and for-profit facilities, including publicly held and private hospitals. Instruction for managing both acute care and chronic care health facilities is available. Curriculum is also offered for aspiring professionals seeking to managing the nation’s long term care facilities. These long term care organizational facilities require the licensure of managers on the Federal and often State levels as well. The examinations for such licenses are administered by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB).

In addition to classroom study, an internship in an approved facility under a designated preceptor is required by the licensing bodies, and the number of hours of practicum varies.
