African American Church Leadership, Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in African American Church Leadership broadens student understanding of African American religious experiences through exploration of pastoral care, pastoral leadership, missional actions, and an historical/theological understanding of the Black Church. Certificate program participants will gain skills necessary to engage cultural exegesis; offer pastoral care in African American Church contexts; provide ministry leadership in African American Church contexts; bridge the historical and contemporary Black Church; and develop ministerial strategies for African American church leadership. A certificate can be embedded into several of the master’s programs or completed separately for professional development.
