Pre-Professional Programs

Students who wish to enter speciﬁc professional or graduate schools should write to those schools to receive advice about the courses of study expected of those who would enter. Below are outlines of programs which are somewhat standard.

In this program, students will complete a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS), and may sit for the national certifying exam.

Course Requirements

Successful applicants to the Physician Assistant Schools in Texas must have a baccalaureate degree which includes the following courses:

BIOL 1401 - General Biology I 4 hrs
BIOL 1402 - General Biology II 4 hrs
BIOL 3310 - Medical Terminology 3 hrs
BIOL 3402 - Genetics 4 hrs
BIOL 3408 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I 4 hrs
BIOL 3409 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II 4 hrs
BIOL 3410 - Microbiology 4 hrs
CHEM 1401 - General Chemistry I 4 hrs
CHEM 1402 - General Chemistry II 4 hrs
CHEM 3403 - Organic Chemistry I 4 hrs
CHEM 3404 - Organic Chemistry II 4 hrs
MATH 1304 - College Algebra 3 hrs
MATH 2406 - Calculus I 4 hrs
