Jazz Studies Certificate

Both degree seeking and non-degree seeking students may pursue elective courses required for the Jazz Studies Certificate. Students will be admitted to the certificate program upon completion of a successful audition and approval by School of Music Faculty. Certificate applications are available through the School of Music Office. The School of Music monitors completion of requirements and presents successful students with document of completion. Non-degree seeking students will comply with standard university enrollment and tuition policies.

Fifteen required credit hours:

MUSI 0114 - Jazz Ensemble 1 hrs - 4 semesters
MUSI 3108 - Jazz Improvisation Workshop 1 hrs - 4 semesters
MUSI 3306 - History of Jazz 3 hrs
MUSI 4140 - Topics in Music 1 hrs (2 semesters) or MUSI 4240 - Topics in Music 2 hrs
Two additional hours from any of the above except MUSI 3306
