Required Courses

The minor requires 18 credit hours with *3 hours included in the general education core. 11 hours lower level and 7 hours upper level.

School of Music recommends MUSI 3202 - Conducting  for any student pursuing a Music Minor in combination with an education degree.

• MUSI 0001 - Performance Lab 0 hrs
• Two terms of applied music: MUSI 1107  and 1108 ; PIAN 1105  and 1106 ; or VOIC 1105  and 1106  
• Four hours major ensemble - 1 per term
• One term piano: MUSI 1107 , PIAN 1105  - 4106 , PIAN 1101 , 1102 , 2101 , or 2102  
• MUSI 1401 - Craft and Rhetoric of Tonal Literature I 4 hrs
• MUSI 3305 - Music in American Culture 3 hrs , MUSI 3306 - History of Jazz  3 hrs, MUSI 3307 - Music in Film and Visual Media  3 hrs, or MUSI 3311 - Common Practice Masterworks  3 hrs
• Four advanced hours of music
