NURS 4455 - Community and Public Health Nursing

Presents key concepts, theories, and issues relevant to practice as a public health/community health nurse. Explores the major concepts and conceptual issues underlying the specialty of community-oriented nursing, including the dimensions of public health and community health nursing. The course is intended to assist students in clarifying conceptual issues in the specialty and in the beginning to develop positions on critical health care issues, including access to care, disparities, vulnerable populations, health promotion across the lifespan and the implementation and progress of Healthy People 2030 National Health Objectives. Previous knowledge from all previous courses, lectures, and clinical labs and skills will be tested in all subsequent studies, including this one. The main goal is to emphasize all nursing practices and ensure that patient safety has always been our epicenter.
